HOW SHOULD YOU HANDLE EMOTIONAL ABUSE IN MARRIAGE & RELATIONSHIPS? Emotional abuse in marriage & relationships is unfortunately more common than people would want to think and is also equally as challenging to decide just how to address it and with whom. Most times when two people get married for the first time they expect their partners to love on them and to allow them to make decisions that bring the greatest level of satisfaction to them. They both expect to be able to do whatever they want to do that will bring them the greatest level of enjoyment. Often times shortly after the wedding (and some times longer) one of the spouses will usually place demands to make most of the decisions in the marriage and begin to control and manipulate the other spouse who usually has more of a giving heart. Over time it begins to cause the spouse who is being controlled to feel less valued, dominated and no longer feel loved. The more demanding spouse wants even more control, will behave very proudly and talk more condescending with disrespect to their mate. I hear from thousands of people each year who have struggled through being emotionally, physically or sexually abused in their relationships, often times for much of their lives (marriages, fathers and mothers, step fathers, church leadership and those who attend, friends, etc.).  Most people who attend church who have been married have been preached to that God hates divorce and so feel like they must stay in a toxic, abusive relationships until death do they part.  Of course God hates divorce – but He also hates abuse which causes the victims to feel sick to their stomachs and often receive diseases and a slow death due to the unhealthy control, feel scared of their spouse and have to walk on egg shells every day while submitting to the demons in their spouse, parents or others.  Does God actually want you to stay submitted to a person whose demons are manifesting on you every day, verbally and emotionally abusing you for hours every day, causing you to feel worthless at best and suicidal at worst, dying slowly inside your body, soul and spirit every day and unable to do anything for the Lord?  Absolutely not.  And abuse does not have to…

Most people think that witchcraft is done by witches who wear tall black pointy hats, with green tinted faces and a wart, who cackle when they laugh and boil things like bats and newts in black cauldrons and cast spells on people and astral project to listen in on people’s conversations.  Yes there are some witches who could fit that description but there are far more who are doing witchcraft every day who look normal and are in leadership of most churches around the world as well as have their own ministries.  And many of them are also men. Truth be told – at the simplest level - witchcraft is when one person tries to make another person do what they want which goes against what God wants for them (sometimes in very subtle ways while others are more overt).  It is not loving or true freedom to try to make a person do what you want them to do when it ultimately hurts them.  Controlling other people to do what you want is done by both men and women and is witchcraft. So last night I returned to Denver from tending to the funeral of my oldest brother Keith from Indiana. I love to go for runs, walks and hikes and the weather was perfect in Denver this morning for a long run, walk and hike on a trail that I had not ventured on before. I went about 90 minutes in one direction towards the Rocky Mountains. On my way out I noticed something I had never seen on any of my hikes before that were not around any body of water (stream, creek, river, pond, lake, ocean). I saw 3 large fish that were about 18-24 inches long. It seemed strange to me as the nearest stream, creek and river was over 10 miles away and there were no ponds around that would hold fish that large nearby as I was near the high point of the area. I then hiked another 90 minutes and realizing that I did not bring any water with me, decided to return as the temperatures were warming. So what are the common behaviors that people who have endured this type of life in youth exhibit towards their spouse, children or others in the work place?  Below is a list of some common traits and, if one is truly honest (and that is the key to this book that the one reading it must be totally honest with themselves), they will probably identify with some or many of them.  The more of the pain that they have endured in their life from a father that was overly controlling, rejecting, and hurtful or a mother that was void of unconditional love the more of the behaviors they will exhibit. When young people decide that they want to be married they do not often think anything about how their pasts will affect their future.  They fall “in love” with a person and allow their emotions to drive their desires and before they know it they are making life-affecting decisions based upon a few months or year or two of “dating” when people try to put on a front of who they believe the other person wants them to be.  They feel “in love” and totally throw out the window all common sense and any possible hint of spiritual discernment.  They let their eyes focus on their mate’s hair, eyes, body, humor, and totally ignore their heart and who they actually are behind closed doors.  They do not see inside their spirit as to whom they are when no one is looking but God. So just who was Jezebel in the Old Testament?  It is important to know the history of the woman that took on the moniker for these insidious behaviors. There are many enemy spirits and some have names that we can identify. What has been harassing a person for years and often times a lifetime since as early as their teens? Why do they behave the way they do?  Why can they not live a peace filled, gentle and loving life?  Why are they unable to enjoy a loving relationship with their spouse and children even after spending months, years or a lifetime in counseling/therapy? It is a spirit that exhibits much control, manipulation and causes a person to easily lie and drives them to dominate more than any other spirit. It especially attacks those that the Lord has a strong calling on and who could become greatly anointed once completely set free from all the oppressing spirits.  Many will become extremely anointed especially that have endured the worst conditions as a child as the enemy wanted to destroy and control, never allowing its victim to become set free and know what has been haunting them for a lifetime.
